The Town of Belmont performs major roadway reconstruction under the Pavement Management Program. The program currently focuses on roads classified as Arterial and Collector roads. Collector roads are further designated as Collector I and Collector II with Collector I roads being the more major of the two designations.
Funding plays a major role in the scheduling of roadway reconstruction. Presently an annual appropriation of $1.2 million is made available for roadway reconstruction. This amount is not adequate to meet the reconstruction needs of the Town. The Engineering Division of Community Development is proposing an annual appropriation of $3.0 million.
